Balçova Cable Car
Balçova Cable Car was first established in 1974. After many years of use, a comprehensive study has recently been started for its maintenance and repair. Necessary arrangements have been made by providing optimum conditions for complying with European Union standards and for a safer travel experience. It was reopened in 2015 in a new, safe and modern style and continued to be one of the symbols of İzmir.
Located in our Balçova district, İzmir Cable Car is opposite İzmir University of Economics. Observation terraces, binoculars and recreation areas have been created for city residents, domestic and foreign tourists. There are 20 cabins in total at the facility. While the colorful cabins reflect the refreshing spirit of İzmir, each cabin can carry a maximum of 8 passengers. The journey with Izmir Cable Car takes about 3 minutes. It has a height of 418 meters and a line length of 810 meters. Carrying an average of 1200 passengers in 60 minutes, the cable car carried a total of 1,500,000 passengers between 2015 and 2019, demonstrating how important it is for the city as a tourism activity.
