Basmane Railway Campus

Basmane railway campus is located on Anafartalar Street in Basmane district, in Konak district, Etiler Mahallesi. The Basmane Station building, designed by architect Eiffel in classic style, was built in 1876 by the French company 'Regie Generale'.

The history

The railway station, which extends to Çorakkapı, also known as Hotels Street today, and which was known as the most important main road of the city in the 1860s, is the entrance point of the caravans.With the influence of the Izmir International Fair and Kültürpark, which opened in 1936, the importance of the Station continued in the Early Republican period.
