Alaçatı Marshy Land
Çeşme Alaçatı Marshy Land is a lagoon-type estuary. It is about 250 hectares in size. The Golden Horn is a natural water road where the tidal stream meets the sea. The Aegean Sea is on the southern border of this natural Marshy Land and Kutlu Aktaş Dam is located on the northern border. There are salt marshes and small beaches in the area, and a rich variety of scrub areas determine the general vegetation. This fertile plant community is home to rare plant species such as the Endemic Pilefili (Pilularia minuta), BeSummer Rock Rose (Cistus monspeliensis) and orchids Neotinea lactea. Sea cowpea (Salicornia sp) and Strawberry (Juncus acutus), which can be seen almost everywhere in Marshy Land, provide feeding, shelter and breeding grounds for some bird species. Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is seen throughout the year in Marshy Land. In addition, bird species such as stilt (Himantopus himantopus), fantail (Cisticola juncidis) and golden sprinkler (Pluvialis apricaria) are also important species seen in the area.
